“Arrow” season 7 has fans waiting on the edge of their seats after the massive changes introduced by the sixth season's finale left Star City without its benevolent vigilante.

“Arrow's” newest showrunner, Beth Schwartz, who has been with the show since the beginning as co-executive producer, revealed the direction the DC superhero series will take when “Arrow” season 7 kicks off. Schwartz was speaking at the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2018.

Schwartz mentioned that the show will be a callback to the dark themes introduced by the first season, a much more cerebrally oriented conflict compared to the more lighthearted deliveries of “Arrow's” sister shows like “Legends of Tomorrow” and “The Flash.”

The seventh season will explore how Oliver Queen's choices will affect his family as well as his friends. The upcoming season's trailer also reveals much about what to expect from Star City's arrow-armed vigilante's friends and family.

From the first look at the SDCC trailer, "Arrow" season 7 will be focusing on how Oliver Queen's incarceration will affect the rest of the Arrow team on a personal level. The season looks to be showcasing how the different members of the Arrow team will take Queen's words to heart, finding their own ways of saving Star City amidst the city's vigilante ban.

From the trailer, it would seem that not all of the members of Team Arrow will be handling the loss of Oliver Queen well, and it would reflect on how they will go about their own brands of vigilantism.

In addition, Queen's incarceration may be putting his family in danger as recurring villain Oliver Diaz is teased about in the trailer as a threat to those whom Queen cannot protect from behind bars. Queen himself is not safe in prison as he encounters a lot of the villains that he put behind bars over the show's past six seasons. Fans are now left to wonder how Queen will be changed by his experience in prison.

For any fan who can't wait to know what will happen to Oliver Queen and his friends and family, “Arrow” season 7 will premiere on Oct. 15.
