From the moment the first clip of Assassin’s Creed: Origins was revealed, fans could already see that it was a different game compared to previous installments. As time goes on and reviewers were given the chance to try samples of the game, players are getting snippets of what they can expect. Apparently, the game offers more freedom to players more than ever before and the new loot system is a huge game changer.
As The Verge notes, the primary reason for why Origins feels so much bigger and offers more freedom is due to the fact that it’s set in ancient Egypt. There are fewer huge buildings to scale and much like how Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag introduced vast ocean bodies into the game, this upcoming title has miles and miles of sandy deserts.
Players are not forced into an assassination mission right away either. Instead, like games such as The Witcher 3 and Skyrim, gamers can wander around and do other things while ignoring the main plot for hours on end.
While previous games did have side-missions and collectibles, gamers have always criticized how they never really felt worthwhile. In contrast, the side-missions in Origins offer both a sense of discovery and satisfaction.
Speaking of new elements that make the upcoming AC game different compared to its predecessors, there is the new Loot system to talk about. As PC Gamer points out, Origins has significantly more pronounced RPG elements to it than past titles in the franchise. A huge part of this is how players can get random items from slain enemies on top of the XP that they impart.
It actually makes players more motivated to explore and see every corner of the world. Then there’s the combat, which is fast-paced and more detail-oriented than later AC games. Even boss fights are now more complex, thanks to the level requirements of the missions.
