“Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla” players have been requesting Ubisoft to add an option to change appearances in the game, or the feature widely known as transmog. The good news is the latest update has finally added it, although it will not be free.
‘Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla’ update adds transmog but there’s a catch
Fans of the franchise obviously liked the transmog feature introduced in “Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey” because the feature immediately became one of the top-requested features when “Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla” launched in late 2020. Title update 1.2.0 is delivering this option to the game, but not exactly the way players imagined.
In “Odyssey,” players only needed to open the Inventory menu to start the transmog process. While some items needed to be looted, the actual changing of visuals of any gear did not require in-game currency for the transmog to be completed.
As explained in the latest update’s notes, starting transmog in “Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla” will require players to visit the blacksmith Gunnar in Ravensthorpe. As expected, his services are not free and players will need to pay him 50 Silver each time they want to change the way a gear looks. Then, items with tweak visuals will be marked with a star in the inventory.
The differences in how transmog is added in “Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla” did not go unnoticed. Some fans replying to the developer’s Reddit post have fair questions about the changes in the game feature with one saying the new process is “extremely tedious” compared to how it worked in “Odyssey.” Another player said they are “confused” why “Valhalla’s” take on transmog requires Silver, to which someone jokingly replied it is to get players to buy Silver packs from the in-game store.
Ways to get Silver in ‘Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla’
Silver is the most common currency used in the game. And to be fair, “Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla” players can get through other means that do not require spending real money.
One of the best ways to gather Silver is by killing enemies, but this is not always guaranteed. Now that they have another use for it, “Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla” players might also want to keep an eye for chests or any container in their surroundings and check them out as they sometimes hide some Silver.
Players can also bet Silver for the chance of earning more when playing mini games. One sure way of earning Silver is by trading runes and trinkets with merchants in “Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla.” But, of course, the easiest way to get Silver is by purchasing Helix Credits with real money. Depending on the size of the Helix Credits pack, it could cost $6 to as much as $50.
