The Republic of Gamers (ROG) division at Asus is known for producing some of the most impressive gaming laptops in the market, often offering a good balance with regards to versatility, convenience, power and price. Now, it seems the tech giant is hoping to expand its reach to another sector by revealing a ROG Gaming Smartphone with a whole host of attachments and features.
Asus is far from being the first gaming tech company to dabble in designing and manufacturing gaming smartphones. Razer did so as well, and so did Nokia with the N-Gage, Ars Technica reports. The biggest difference among these companies, however, is how Asus seems to be intent on going all in on the matter.
This is best exemplified by the number of accessories that the ROG phone will come with, which include an actual clip-on cooling fan. While not exactly revolutionary in its concept, it stills highlights the theme of gaming with the device. In its announcement of the gaming smartphone, Asus provides details on what customers can expect from the handset.
“Our first Android device combines special Snapdragon silicon with innovative cooling to produce silky frame rates you can actually sustain. Its uncompromised display blends blistering speed with beautiful HDR visuals, while programmable AirTriggers and tactile enhancements heighten your physical connection and comfort. There are other upgrades throughout, and the phone is joined by a collection of transformative accessories for docking with a desktop, doubling up on screens and batteries, and adding console-like controls alongside a wireless display,” Asus writes.
For those who need more technical information, the device will essentially come with the latest Snapdragon 845 processor from Qualcomm, 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. Naturally, since this is a gaming smartphone, it comes with a particularly muscular battery offering 4,000mAh of juice. As for the price, this has yet to be announced.
