BTS canceled most of their concerts that are part of their world tour for this year. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the South Korean boy band had to reschedule all their activities while the performances for this month and the next were scratched from their calendar.
Last weekend, the group was supposed to open their world tour through a 4-night concert shows in Seoul and since it is not possible in this current situation, Big Hit Entertainment decided to just hold an event online. The agency announced BTS’ “Bang Bang Con” a week before it was set to be streamed and the response from the ARMYs was so great.
The outcome of BTS’ first online concert streaming
On April 18 and 19, the “Bang Bang Con” streamed via YouTube starting at noon. The event went on for 24 hours and some of BTS’ concerts were shown for free. As a bonus, Big Hit also released footage of fan meetings and more shows staged by the 7-member idol group.
As reported by South Korea’s Hankyung news outlet, the BTS concert that ran for two days was able to gather over 50 million views. It was mentioned that at some point, around two million fans were watching simultaneously worldwide.
The free online event was meant to cheer up the fans as they stay home in this time of the COVID-19 pandemic. The event proved to be very successful and showed that despite the distance and situation, the ARMYs would continue to support BTS no matter what.
Upcoming June event teaser
Now, fans are saying that there are more events coming in the next few months. They assumed this after reportedly seeing a mysterious teaser at the end of the “Bang Bang Con” concert marathon. The fans are referring to the note that popped out on that screen which reads: “In June, BTS will return to ARMY’s rooms once again.
Everyone is trying to figure out what this message exactly means but most are convinced that BTS is preparing for another big event that will take place in June. What makes it more special is that it is the debut month of the band as well.
