BYD Unveils Denza N9, a 1,000 HP Luxury SUV That Could Rival Porsche

The Denza N9 aims to redefine luxury SUVs with its impressive horsepower and high-tech interior.

BYD's Denza N9 luxury SUV, built on the new e-Platform 3.0, is gearing up for a launch later this year. With a 1,000 horsepower powertrain, the N9 is expected to challenge top-tier electric SUVs in the luxury segment.

BYD Expands Into Luxury EV Market with Denza N9

Although BYD has made a name for itself in the electric vehicle market with its iconic Seagull and other incredibly affordable models, the company is now expanding into new territories.

A new full-size electric SUV from BYD's premium Denza brand is reportedly set to debut later this year, according to Electrek.

Denza N9 Powered by BYD's e-Platform 3.0

Zhao Changjiang, chief of sales at Denza, has stated that BYD's new e-Platform 3.0 will serve as the foundation for the Denza N9. Later this year, it will likely be available in China with both electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains.

The e3 technology developed by BYD will drive the electric SUV. The rear axle is capable of dual-motor independence thanks to the system's three electric motors, which provide almost 1,000 horsepower.

BYD's First e-Platform 3.0 Model Competes with Porsche

As of last month, the first vehicle to be supported by BYD's e-Platform 3.0 was the Z9 GT, a Denza brand vehicle. Starting at $47,400 (RMB 334,800), the Denza Z9 GT is a possible competitor to the Porsche Panorama.

The Denza N9 will have a cutting-edge smart cockpit and a length of 5.3 meters, according to previously disclosed camouflaged pictures.

Denza N9 Set to Dominate Luxury SUV Market

"Denza N9 is a tech Super Gentleman," Zhao stated. According to Denza's sales leader, who spoke last month, the flagship vehicle will be an SUV that competitors will not be able to replicate in the next five years.

BYD Achieves Record Sales, Denza Growth Soars

Last month, BYD sold 419,426 vehicles, surpassing SAIC to become the largest auto group in China. Of BYD's total sales in September, 10,299 were Denza vehicles. So far in 2024, the company has sold over 90,000 vehicles. Several electric cars and a new multi-purpose vehicle are in the works for the luxury brand, which already offers the N7, N8, and N9 electric SUVs.

As part of its growth into other product categories, BYD has released the Denza N9, an electric supercar, a pickup truck, and a premium SUV.
