For subscribers to Sony’s PlayStation Plus network, March is going to be an amazing month. As is the case with every turn of the calendar, the company is giving away free games. March has some of the best offers yet, with Bloodborne for the PlayStation 4 being the most obvious treat for the players. It’s not all good news, however, as Sony also announced that it will stop giving away games from the previous generation.
Sony made the announcement via the PlayStation Blog, noting that PS4 players who are subscribed to the PS+ network are going to be eligible to download the hauntingly beautiful game about Lovecraftian themes coming to life. As something of a spiritual kin of the Dark Souls franchise, Bloodborne has earned a reputation for being brutal, gorgeous, and addictive.
Anyone who hasn’t tried this game yet can now have the chance to do so free of charge. The same goes for those who have yet to play the remake of the classic platformer Ratchet & Clank by Insomniac, which will also be available for download at no expense to the players.
For those who aren’t familiar with the property, Ratchet & Clank is a sci-fi adventure game that features an arsenal of unique and fun weaponry, quirky personalities, and a duo that dominated the gaming industry during the PS2 era. It’s definitely worth a look, especially since it won’t cost gamers anything.
PS3 owners will also get free games, one of which being Legend of Kay. An action platformer that appears to be inspired by other iconic titles in the same genre such as Super Mario 64, it’s a decent title with a lot of charm.
The second free game on the platform, however, is Mighty No. 9. A spiritual successor to the Megaman franchise, it’s not exactly the best game on this list.
For the PS Vita, there’s the exceedingly disturbing 2D game Claire: Extended Cut, which features some incredibly disturbing elements, Newsweek notes. There’s also the reskinned Bomberman title, Bombing Busters, which isn’t really that good of a game.
Unfortunately for those who still own Sony’s last generation console and handheld, these titles might be among the last free games released on the platforms. The last free PS3 and PS Vita games will be provided on March 8, 2019, which still gives gamers a year to enjoy the free monthly content.
