‘Bones’ season 12 recently wrapped production with returning stars David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel. Showrunner Michael Peterson revealed that Booth and Brennan will not be leaving their respective jobs in favor of a new life together.
According to International Business Times, season 12 of ‘Bones’ recently completed production in time for the expected premiere date on January 3, 2017 on Fox. Returning to the series are stars David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel, who play main protagonists Seeley Booth and Dr. Temperance “Bones” Brennan, respectively.
Boreanaz’ Booth is an FBI special agent while Deschanel’s Brennan is a forensic anthropologist. The two began as partners in crime investigation but soon got involved in a romantic relationship. Boreanaz and Deschanel will be joined by numerous cast members from past seasons, including Betty White as Dr. Beth Meyer, Stephen Fry as Gordon Wyatt, and Eddie McClintock as Brennan's ex-boyfriend, Sully.
Several cast members shared behind-the-scenes photographs from the filming set of season 12. Boreanaz posted an image of a clapperboard with the caption, “Last shot and series wrap” last December 15 while Michaela Conlin, who plays Angela, shared a collage of her first and last day on the filming set.
An extended trailer for the incoming season also featured Deschanel with Eric Millegan, who plays Bones’ former assistant Zack Addy. It featured Zack’s story from his career beginnings at the Jeffersonian Institute with Bones up until his recent appearance in season 11’s finale episode, titled "The Nightmare within the Nightmare,” where he kidnapped Brennan.
The incoming season is set to be the crime procedural drama’s final run on Fox. Co-showrunner Michael Peterson teased during an interview with TV Line that Booth and Brennan won’t be leaving their respective jobs to begin a new life since they also did that with the storyline in season 10. He said, “…And since we don’t like repeating ourselves, it [forced] us to brainstorm a different [conclusion].”
‘Bones’ season 12 is scheduled to premiere on January 3, 2017 on Fox. Episode 1 is titled "The Hope in the Horror" and was directed by Emily Deschanel and written by Michael Peterson.
