Major gaming conference and trade shows are lined up through 2019. Most fans eagerly wait for these events because these are usually the times when video game companies announce some of its biggest, upcoming titles. PAX East 2019 is happening this month and hopes are up that Gearbox Software will announce “Borderlands 3” then.
The schedule of events for PAX East 2019, happening on March 28-31 in Boston, is revealed showing that Gearbox Software is taking the Main Theatre stage on the first day. While developers have been mum and seemingly hesitant to officially confirm “Borderlands 3” is in development for the past couple of years.
However, an event as huge as the PAX East main stage could be the rightful stage for the official announcement of a much-awaited game. The event teaser reads, “This is your opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at Gearbox Software and Gearbox Publishing, along with the latest news and updates from the makers of ‘Borderlands,’ ‘Battleborn,’ ‘Brothers in Arms,’ and more! We will have never-before-seen reveals, exclusives, and surprises, so don’t miss out!” Needless to say, it sparked speculations that “Borderlands 3” could be part of the program.
It is also important to note that Gearbox has repeatedly said it intends to expand the “Borderlands” franchise and that an installment for the main series will arrive in time. It might not be exactly titled as “Borderlands 3,” but fans were guaranteed that “Borderlands 2” was not the last title for the series.
Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford reiterated this recently while responding to a fan on Twitter. “It has been no secret that we have games in development and that includes games in the ‘Borderlands’ franchise,” he wrote. However, he maintained that they will only announce titles, such as “Borderlands 3,” at the right time or when the game is ready. Pitchford added that the company is focused on “creating entertainment.”
