With three more episodes left until the end of the series, "Boruto" episode 66 seems to be the rest most fans deserve after the adrenaline-fueled episode 65 battle between Naruto and Sasuke against Momoshiki. The last two episodes have seen Boruto gaining Naruto's respect, the defeat of the big bad at Boruto's hands, and Momoshiki revealing Boruto's future to him.
Crunchyroll, the official streaming site for "Boruto," has also released the preview for "Boruto" episode 66 on its YouTube channel.
With the preview's content, it seems that "Boruto" episode 66 and onwards will be focusing on how Boruto matures and finds his own place in the world. The other ninjas may treat Boruto with respect now, but it seems the young hero has more challenges he wants to go up against on his own, considering the foresight that Momoshiki gifted him after being defeated. With the less action-oriented story being teased, it seems the animation team for “Boruto” will be dialing back on the series' animations.
The spectacular quality of the "Boruto" episode 65 animations already have fans joking about the show's talented animators slacking off for Episode 66. Naruto fans on Reddit, specifically u/garison105, have posted this fan-made sketches of a rip on the quality of the "Boruto" Episode 66 animations, a sure sign that the community appreciates the high quality of the previous episode's animations.
While "Boruto" episode 65 was aired two weeks past episode 64 due to being affected by the recent Pokemon movie release, "Boruto" will be following its regular weekly release schedule with "Boruto" Episode 66 to air on July 26, and the last two episodes airing by Aug. 2 and Aug. 9, respectively.
Boruto has also been picked up by Cartoon Network's Toonami and will premiere on the network in September. For more of Boruto, fans can also head over to Crunchyroll, the official net streamer of the series, for both past and future episodes.
