Columbus, GA, April 10, 2018 -- The Board of Directors of Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers, Inc. (GoodwillSR) has announced that H. Jack Warden has been named as the new President and CEO of the organization. The search was led by Alicen Blair-Sibly, a Managing Partner of Boyden United States in Atlanta.
With this appointment, Warden will fill a position that has been vacant since August 2017, when longtime President and CEO Jane Seckinger passed away from breast cancer. Seckinger had led GoodwillSR since 1999 and fostered tremendous growth during her tenure, leveraging a combination of business acumen and passion for nonprofit work. Terry Reis, Vice President of IT and Finance, has served as Interim President and CEO since Seckinger’s death. Warden will assume leadership of GoodwillSR on April 30.
According to Jacki Lowe, Chairman of the Board for GoodwillSR, the Board of Directors led an exhaustive search process that evaluated an international pool of candidates. “There was a tremendous amount of interest in this position, and we were fortunate to have a slate of highly qualified candidates to consider. However, Jack Warden really stood out from the other candidates,” said Lowe.
Warden joins Goodwill with a diverse background in running multimillion-dollar companies, most recently serving as President of Golden Boy Foods, a $450 million international organization. Previously, he served as President and CEO at American Blanching Company. Warden has also served on the Goodwill Board of Directors since 2011.
“When I joined the Goodwill board several years ago, I was familiar with the organization mainly from the retail store perspective,” said Warden. “But, during one of our board meetings, I heard a young man with significant disabilities tell the story of how Goodwill helped him find work and enabled him to provide support for his young family through career counseling and training. The pride and enthusiasm I saw when he described his job left a strong impression on me that I will never forget. This success story’, combined with countless others I’ve heard over the years, are key reasons I wanted to be a part of this organization in a more significant way.”
“Jack is the perfect leader to take Goodwill Southern Rivers into a new era of serving the community,” said Boyden’s Blair-Sibly. “His experience and track record are an ideal fit to continue the growth and great work Jane Seckinger established over the past two decades.”
