Brazil’s Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes has summoned former President Jair Bolsonaro’s legal team to explain his alleged defiance of court orders restricting his use of social media, according to Brazilian news outlet G1. Moraes has given Bolsonaro’s lawyers 24 hours to respond and warned that failure to provide a satisfactory explanation could lead to the former president’s immediate arrest.
The warning follows concerns that Bolsonaro has continued to communicate through social media despite a judicial ban. Moraes indicated that even press interviews featuring Bolsonaro could violate the court’s orders if they are shared on digital platforms. The justice emphasized that such actions may constitute a breach of restrictions related to Bolsonaro’s ongoing legal investigations.
