Burger King has drawn criticism on social media for using the recent Suez Canal blockage to promote a sandwich.
In their latest social media post, Burger King's official account in Chile had superimposed an image of a Double Whopper sandwich in place of the cargo ship that blocked Egypt's Suez Canal.
Burger King wrote in the caption to the post that "there is no channel that interrupts our delivery, not even that of a tremendous Double Whopper".
The post soon went viral and triggered angry reactions on Egyptian social media.
Consequently, the hashtag #BoycottBurgerKing began trending online, with many criticizing the ad.
But some found the ad amusing.
