“Call of Duty: Black Ops 4” has just confirmed the criticism that has been leveled at the franchise for many years now, which depicts the developers of having run out of ideas. In the latest change to the game’s Blackout mode, Treyarch had the bright idea to sprinkle some zombies in the Battle Royale option. The result is Blightfather, which acts as something of an undead boss character.
The new feature is explained in a Reddit post, where the official Treyarch account provided details on what players can expect. It would seem that the developers saw the “Call of Duty: Black Ops 4” Battle Royale mode as not being exciting enough. It was also as if they saw how Epic recently added monsters in “Fortnite Battle Royale” and just decided at the last minute to copy the move.
"For a limited time, the fearsome Blightfather has been transported from IX to haunt the Graveyard just south of the Asylum. Those of you who took him on during the Blackout Beta know he won’t go down without a fight – and the victors will be handsomely rewarded this time around. This event is now live in all Blackout playlists on all platforms, so keep an eye out for the red pillar of light for a chance to slay the Blightfather... or pick off those who dare try," the post reads.
Are the developers of “Call of Duty: Black Ops 4” officially out of ideas now? Are future games in the franchise just Activision copying whatever is popular?
This is not the only change that was made to “Call of Duty: Black Ops 4,” though since the patch also made some adjustments and additions to the game. A full list of these changes is featured over at Comic Book, which notes that there are new character missions.
