The full release of “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” is just around the corner. This also means that the annual beta tests before the game’s launch are also set. However, video game players should note that only those with access codes can join.
‘Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’ beta tests kick off in October
The announcement of the “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” beta dates comes shortly after the conclusion of the game’s alpha tests on PlayStation 4 over the weekend. PS4 players are also the first ones to have access to the beta tests when they kick off next month.
Overall, Activision will open the “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” beta for two “weekends” in October. Developers call it a weekend, but each batch runs for a total of five days. The PlayStation-exclusive Weekend 1 starts with the Early Access on Oct. 8-9 followed by Open Beta on Oct. 10-12. Weekend 2 will grant crossplay for “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” among PS4, Xbox One, and PC players. This will begin with its Early Access period on Oct. 15-16 while the Open Beta follows on Oct. 17-19.
How to get ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’ beta early access codes
It is good for Activision and Treyarch to continue offering open beta tests all these years, but as shown by the schedules above there is an advantage in having an Early Access code. The first massive beta codes giveaway was initiated by Activision last August where they promised to send 10,000 invites to lucky fans. The developers have yet to announce another event of the same nature. But given how close the “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” beta dates are already, it might be better not to expect too much.
On the bright side, there is one sure way to get an Early Access code for the “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” beta tests. It will not be free, though. Anyone who gets a copy of any digital pre-order edition of the game will receive an Early Access code that they can use according to the platform they have.
“Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” will first be released on PC and current-generation consoles on Nov. 13, but it is also confirmed to have a version for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. It is yet to be announced if Activision will host beta tests for the upcoming consoles.
