One of the biggest announcements this month in the gaming industry is the next “Call of Duty: Mobile.” As expected, Activision will not miss out on the popularity of Battle Royale titles. But they are making the competition much fiercer as it promised more features such as four vehicle classes.
“PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” or “PUBG” is one the first major Battle Royale games that hit the mobile gaming market followed by another popular game “Fortnite.” So Activision is making a smart move of going big in the “Call of Duty: Mobile” gameplay features if to get a good fraction of the mobile Battle Royal market.
In an announcement made recently, it was confirmed that “Call of Duty: Mobile” will have ATV and SUV vehicles for land travels, Tactical Rafts for moving on water, and the most exciting being Light Helicopters that could fit up to three players at once.
The ATV can be used by one driver and one rider at once while armored SUVs can fit an entire team of four. Activision confirms that Tactical Rafts can be driven on oceans and rivers “Call of Duty: Mobile” though it does not offer ample cover to protect players from snipers.
Much like “PUBG” and “Fortnite,” “Call of Duty: Mobile’s” Battle Royale mode also begins with 100 players. There will be an option to play solo, in duo, and in teams of four. The active map also gets smaller after a certain period, so camping will not let players win. Aside from opponents, players must watch out for zombies wandering across the map.
One of the advantages that “Call of Duty: Mobile” has over other Battle Royale titles is the vast resources for map designs and locations familiar to fans of the long-running “Call of Duty” franchise. For example, the upcoming mobile game will feature areas called the Diner and Farm that are both derived from “Black Ops II.”
Activision has yet to announce a specific release date for “Call of Duty: Mobile” and closed beta has already started in India to be followed by another batch in Australia. Unfortunately, the developers have only opened the pre-registration for players in select countries in North America, South America, and Europe.
Given that Asia houses the biggest population of gamers, it will not be surprising if Activision expands the “Call of Duty: Mobile” reach to more Asian countries in the coming months. The game is available on both the Android and iOS platforms.
