South Korea's strawberry exports reached US$49 million from the January to May period, rising 24.7 percent on-year on the back of robust output and the use of chartered flights for outbound shipments.
The country conducted 88 chartered strawberry-only flights to Singapore from December last year to help local strawberry farmers ship their produce.
The fights were held four times a week and shipped 60 tons of strawberries that comprise 91 percent of South Korea's strawberry exports to Singapore.
South Korea is aiming to increase its exports of strawberries to $65 million this year, up 20 percent from 2020.
