DAYTON, Ohio, July 7, 2016 -- The CareSource Foundation has awarded a grant of $750,000 to the Levitt Pavilion Dayton. The new venue, which will be located in downtown Dayton at Dave Hall Plaza, will provide a gathering place for the community to enjoy 50 free, family-friendly concerts and cultural programs annually. The redevelopment of Dave Hall Plaza to include the Levitt Pavilion Dayton will create an anchor venue and serve as a catalyst for future development and economic growth.
The CareSource Foundation, celebrating its 10th anniversary, is committed to enriching lives and building healthier communities. Levitt Pavilion projects across the country have displayed this same commitment by bringing spaces to their full potential to help communities thrive.
"The CareSource Foundation's support of this landmark project gives us an opportunity to further impact the quality of life in our community. Levitt Pavilion Dayton will bring a new vibrancy to the downtown core in addition to providing a gathering place for our diverse community to enjoy great music," said Cathy Ponitz, Executive Director of the CareSource Foundation.
"We are pleased that CareSource has stepped forward as a prominent supporter of this initiative. When completed in 2018, Levitt Pavilion Dayton will join the ranks as the ninth outdoor Levitt music venue in the country, helping to revitalize communities by forming strong collaborations," said Jeffrey Ireland, Board Chair of the Friends of Levitt Pavilion Dayton. "We are thrilled that the same will soon be happening in Dayton thanks to the strong support of CareSource and others."
Since 2006, the CareSource Foundation has awarded over 1,000 grants and invested more than $13.7 million to strengthen the network of nonprofit health and human service organizations throughout Ohio. The gift to the Levitt Pavilion Dayton is the Foundation's largest award to date and is the fifth signature grant of 2016.
