The Community Affairs Director for the Church of Scientology in Clearwater, Mr. Dylan Pires, welcomed all of the guests and thanked them for coming. He highlighted The Way to Happiness Foundation, showing the “Set a Good Example” chapter from the Way to Happiness Book on Film.
This luncheon’s Spotlight Charity was the Florida Coalition Against Human Trafficking. Ms. Giselle Rodriguez, State Outreach Coordinator, gave a description of her charity and debunked many myths about human trafficking.
Mr. Tony Armer, St. Pete/Clearwater film Commissioner, was the other guest speaker. Mr. Armer is an award-winning filmmaker and the founder and former Executive Director of the internationally acclaimed Sunscreen Film Festival.
He spoke about how video content can be very useful for charities and non-profits and how to get started if you don't know how. Mr. Armer also explained how social media can be utilized for promotion at very little to no cost.
“Today was a great experience finding out about the different charities and about human trafficking. I can’t wait until the next luncheon for more networking and hearing about educational topics,” said one of the guests.
The Fort Harrison’s doors are open for non-profit organizations and charities to hold their own events.
