Filming for “Chicago Fire” Season 7 is set to start sometime this week, and details about the show’s upcoming season have been slowly squeezing through the cracks. For starters, the season’s premier title has been revealed and it’s apparently being written by executive producer Derek Haas himself. With this being the case, “Chicago Fire” Season 7 will likely be off to a great start.
In a recent post on Twitter, Haas revealed that the first episode of “Chicago Fire” Season 7 will be titled “A Closer Eye.” It also comes with the caption “Sets me up perfectly to give you the title for 701...” the meaning of which isn’t exactly that clear.
On the matter of what the meaning of the premiere title is, there have been some speculations, but none of them have been confirmed. At this point, the only things that are really known about “Chicago Fire” Season 7 are that some characters will return while others will not.
As CarterMatt notes, the fact that Haas is writing the first episode of the new season likely puts it in the zone of "hopeful" more than not. While some fans have expressed doubts with regards to the quality of “Chicago Fire” Season 7, there is room to hope.
There were some initial complications when the upcoming season was written, however, with contract issues among the actors being a major source of discomfort. Fortunately, Boden is set to come back with Eamonn Walker’s contract problems being resolved. The matter of Monica Raymund’s Gabriela Dawson, however, has ended on a sadder note since the actress won’t be coming back to the show.
This means that “Chicago Fire” Season 7 will see one less cast member for Firehouse 51, which leaves questions about what will be done to fill the void. Will there be a new cast member introduced right away or will the showrunners wait a bit before tugging at that thread?
