‘Chicago P.D.’ season 4’s episode 20, titled “Grasping for Salvation,” will follow Voight as he reopens a decades-old murder investigation after finding a possible connection with a present crime committed.
The synopsis for “Grapsing for Salvation” posted on TV Guide reads, “While investigating the murder of a teenage boy, Voight (Jason Begher) finds a connection with the murder weapon linking it to a case that he worked on 17 years ago.
While the victim's father (Philip Casnoff), a prominent defense attorney, tries to get the case taken over by Area Central Homicide, Voight digs back into the old case under the watchful eye of his former partner, Lt. Denny Woods (guest star Mykelti Williamson).”
The upcoming episode will follow Voight as he reopens an investigation he worked on decades ago. While working on a new case, he discovers that the murder weapon used on the young victim was connected to the same one used on another victim 17 years ago. Unsatisfied by his findings, he will return to the old case to ensure that the actual perpetrator of the crime was the one put in jail and not an unfortunate yet innocent man.
According to International Business Times, the episode will also feature the return of Voight’s old boss, Lt. Woods. Woods will keep his eye on Voight as he attempts to connect the old case with the new one. The promo shows Woods and Voight in a panel of other officers and it seems that Woods has nothing good to say about his colleague.
To make things more challenging for Voight, the victim’s father is doing what he can to block the aid of the Intelligence Unit by pushing for the investigation to be taken over by Area Central Homicide.
‘Chicago P.D.’ season 4’s episode 20, titled “Grasping for Salvation,” is set to air on NBC on April 26, 2017. It will be followed by episode 21, titled “Fagin,” scheduled to be released on May 3.
