China banned 105 apps for violating cyber-laws, as part of efforts to get rid of content related to pornography, prostitution, violence, and gambling.
Chinese authorities said the ban was for content the public "deemed offensive".
Most of the apps on the list are Chinese but included US travel app TripAdvisor. It is unclear why TripAdvisor was banned.
According to the Cyberspace Administration of China, all apps violated at least one of three cyber-laws, although it did not provide details.
The ban came at a time a second US court rules against the planned ban on TikTok.
According to US district judge Carl Nichols, the second judge to rule in favor of TikTok, President Trump overstepped his authority when attempting to ban the Chinese video-sharing app on security grounds.
Chinese authorities accused the US of bullying tactics when the TikTok ban was announced by President Trump in the summer and said it would take "necessary measures" to safeguard the interests of their companies.
