Irvine Police Department's newest addition, a Tesla Cybertruck, joins the DARE program, bringing futuristic technology to foster deeper connections with the community and youth.
Cybertruck Rolls Into Irvine PD’s DARE Program
A really unique movie-themed film was created to welcome the new Tesla Cybertruck to the Irvine Police Department's fleet. As Teslarati notes, the IPD used social media to herald the rollout of the electric pickup truck.
According to the Irvine Police Department's statement, the Tesla Cybertruck will not serve as a conventional cruiser. The IPD's Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) unit would be the one to receive its deployment instead.
The Cybertruck might be utilized for community assistance in addition to its regular police job, thanks to the equipment it has installed from Unplugged Performance's UP.FIT unit, a Tesla tuner.
Outfitted for Community Engagement and Assistance
Photos of the Cybertruck show that UP.FIT has outfitted the all-electric pickup truck with all the technology needed for police work, so the fact that it will not be employed as a standard police vehicle seems almost regrettable. The Cybertruck is perfect for police work because of its spacious interior, powerful engine, sturdy stainless steel body, and enormous battery pack.
According to the Irvine Police Department's social media statement, the Cybertruck is the most recent addition to its impressive fleet of vehicles utilized for the DARE program.
Cybertruck to Strengthen Community Ties Through DARE
Vehicles such as the Cybertruck have the potential to greatly contribute to fostering constructive dialogues and community engagement, as pointed out by the IPD.
“While the fully equipped vehicle won’t be used as a patrol car, it can respond to emergencies and assist the community when needed. For over three decades, our DARE officers have driven attention-grabbing and one-of-a-kind vehicles that never fail to turn heads and excite students. IPD believes in the continual education of students and is one of only two DARE programs in the entire state."
Irvine PD’s Innovative Approach to Community Interaction
“IPD passionately seeks unique and innovative ways to connect with our community and the youth of Irvine. Officers on horseback, working with a support K9, or driving a unique vehicle such as the Cybertruck start positive conversations and promote community interaction,” the Irvine PD noted in its social media post.
Community Pop-Up Events to Showcase Cybertruck
Residents who are interested in taking photos with the Irvine PD's Tesla Cybertruck can do so at pop-up events happening in the coming weeks.
