Highly anticipated by fans of the franchise that spawned the “Git Good” trend, "Dark Souls Remastered" allows players to return to the first official title in the series with a much better graphical experience. Many analysts and reviewers have been raving about the exquisite quality of bringing "Dark Souls" to current generation settings. However, it seems the developers left something in its code that "Bloodborne" fans might find interesting.
In the video analysis that Digital Foundry performed in testing "Dark Souls Remastered," they concluded that it was a huge step-up from the original. The reviewers were initially concerned that it might end up as a disastrous port, much like the “Prepare to Die” edition for the PC. Fortunately, this was not the case.
“It's the port we were most concerned about after the disastrous PC 'Prepare to Die' Edition... but developer QLOC has pulled it off. You get fresh new visuals, improved performance and proper resolution support,” the video description reads.
Clearly, the people responsible for upgrading the graphical qualities of the game took a lot of care to make sure that they would deliver a final product that’s worthy of belonging to the legendary franchise. Speaking of which, it seems that the developers have hidden a precious nugget of secret within the title.
Apparently, a modder was able to discover and then extract a piece of content from the game’s code, which resembles the Upper Cathedral Ward map from the game "Bloodborne." What’s more, the modder was actually able to open it using "Grand Theft Auto V" assets, Kotaku reports.
Seeing Trevor running around and driving a car over the cobblestones where nightmare creatures are supposed to stomp is rather hilarious. It’s clear that the map is different from the final product that made it to the PlayStation 4-exclusive title, but it’s interesting to know that it could have been present in the "Dark Souls" since 2011.
