SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 28, 2017 -- Databricks, provider of a leading Unified Analytics Platform and founded by the team who created Apache Spark™, today announced that it has achieved Amazon Web Services (AWS) Machine Learning (ML) Competency status. This designation recognizes Databricks for enabling data scientists and machine learning practitioners with tools to take their data, train predictive models and make predictions on new data.
Achieving the AWS ML Competency differentiates Databricks as an AWS Partner Network (APN) member that has built solutions that help organizations solve their data challenges, enable machine learning and data science workflows or offer SaaS/API based capabilities that enhance end applications with machine intelligence. Attaining the AWS ML Competency demonstrates to customers that Databricks has validated expertise in ML on AWS.
Databricks’ Unified Analytics Platform provides a simplified approach for data science and data engineering teams to collaborate with business teams to meet their needs around big data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI). By reducing the challenges associated with AI adoption and deployment, Databricks aims to make this technology suitable for all businesses. To date, customers such as Hotels.com have built AI and machine learning applications on Databricks and AWS. Databricks’ cloud-based platform is powered by Apache Spark, the most popular open source technology for big data processing and machine learning workloads, and is an invention of the co-founders of Databricks.
“Quickly growing volumes of data and an expanding variety of data types and formats continue to be roadblocks to obtaining deeper and more accurate insights. Our Unified Analytics Platform aims to reduce this complexity by providing simpler operations and deployment, and shorter cycles to build, tune and deploy models to make businesses more data-driven,” said David Meyer, senior vice president of Products at Databricks. “Achieving AWS ML Competency status recognizes our proven track record of allowing data scientists to focus on their data problems and models instead of solving the complexities surrounding distributed data. Our team is dedicated to helping customers achieve their business goals by leveraging the agility of AWS.”
“Given the complexity of building a scalable and reliable production workflow that serves billions of predictions, deploying machine learning at scale is still a challenge,” said Joseph Spisak, Global Lead for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Partnerships, Amazon Web Services, Inc. “We are thrilled to have Databricks join us as an APN Partner for the AWS Machine Learning Competency Program. By automating routine tasks, teams are able focus squarely on the problems they are trying to solve and spend less time worrying about how to optimize and deploy their models.”
AWS is enabling scalable, flexible, and cost-effective solutions from startups to global enterprises. To support the seamless integration and deployment of these solutions, AWS established the AWS Competency Program to help customers identify Consulting and Technology APN Partners with deep industry experience and expertise.
