The Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Delhi Capitals has partnered with sports blockchain technology firm FanCraze for the launching of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and Web 3.0 experiences.
The Capitals would be the first team in the Indian Twenty20 cricket league to introduce their own digital collectibles as a result of the arrangement.
These NFTs will be tradable for purchase on FanCraze's online marketplace, which debuted in February of this year. This comes after the company became an associate partner of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) by sponsoring the Women's T20 Challenge.
In January, FanCraze presented the International Cricket Council's (ICC) officially sanctioned 'crictos' NFT collection, and has since cooperated with Cricket West Indies (CWI).
FanCraze has stated that it is working on other collaborations with individual cricket stars, as well as other teams and leagues.
Vinod Bisht, Interim chief executive of the Delhi Capitals, said they will be debuting the first Delhi Capitals’ NFTs in early June, and are really excited to give our fans the ability to own a piece of their favorite team and players.
