FRANKLIN, Ohio, April 30, 2018 -- Designing Digitally, Inc., a custom training development company, received a Gold achievement from the Horizon Interactive Awards for a training simulation they created for Procter & Gamble. The Horizon Interactive Awards is an annual competition which recognizes outstanding achievements in interactive media developments around the world. Judges award Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels of distinction.
The training simulation takes P&G quality assessors through a 3D production plant to determine the overall health and efficiency of the facility. They choose which rooms to visit in each wing of the building to gather as much information as possible. Assessors observe their surroundings and take pictures of anything out of place. Plus, they speak with plant employees, analyze documentation, and choose the best course of action in investigative scenarios.
This realistic experience allows trainees to conduct a full-scale quality assessment in a virtual environment before surveying an actual P&G facility. Designing Digitally, Inc. worked closely with P&G to create a fictional setting and storyline that incorporates positive elements for the assessor to observe as well as plausible problems to uncover.
Karlea McCoy, an Instructional Designer at Designing Digitally, Inc., spoke on the instructional approach. “We wanted learners to discover information on their own, so we designed creative interactions that force them to do some digging. It was fun to write a mystery-type story, burying clues inside dialog and placing facts throughout the rooms.” The entire team at Designing Digitally, Inc. is thrilled to have won a Gold award for this innovative project.
