“Destiny 2” for the PC is currently available to be downloaded for free, so anyone who has been curious about this game can give it a try without paying for anything. What’s more, after the limited time is up, those who got the game can keep it forever. Is this a way for Bungie to drum up more engagement in a game that is still suffering from damages to its reputation?
As Kotaku reports, “Destiny 2” is currently available to PC players to download for free, but they will only be able to do so until Nov. 18. This was supposed to be a way for Blizzard to celebrate the first anniversary of the game becoming playable on the PC. This then provides those who have not played the game yet with the chance to see what it’s like.
For those who have already gotten “Destiny 2,” they will instead get an emblem, which is not exactly that much of a prize compared to getting the game for free. As for how PC gamers can actually take advantage of this offer, simple instructions can be found over at Forbes.
Basically, it’s just a matter of downloading the client for Battle.net and then getting the game that’s being offered for free. Once that is done, players will be able to keep that copy of “Destiny 2” for as long as they want. However, considering this game’s reputation, this might not be for that long.
Those who are even vaguely aware of “Destiny 2” will likely have heard all of the controversies regarding the title. While it still commands a considerable number of players, it’s nowhere near what Blizzard would have expected. This move to make the game free might be a way to generate interest in a multiplayer title that has disappointed fans practically since it launched.
