Seeing President Donald Trump lash out on his enemies and make snide remarks on social media regarding those people has become the norm. Congressman Adam Schiff is once again one of his recent targets on social media as Trump accused him of leaking information.
Just before leaving for India, Politicalflare reports that Trump spoke to reporters regarding the alleged interference by Russia once again in the upcoming elections in November. “Nobody said it to me at all, they ought to investigate Adam Schiff for leaking that intelligence,” said Trump before boarding Air Force One, insisting that he was not briefed. However, even when he boarded the plane for India, he went on another rant on Twitter targeting the Congressman. “Somebody please tell incompetent (thanks for my high poll numbers) & corrupt politician Adam “Shifty” Schiff to stop leaking Classified information or even worse, made-up information, to the Fake News Media,” tweeted Trump.
Trump went on to threaten Schiff. “Someday he will be caught, & that will be a very unpleasant experience!”
Previous reports have already noted that Trump is becoming more concerned and frustrated regarding the relaying of intelligence, especially after dismissing acting DNI Joseph Maguire and replacing him with Richard Grenell. Maguire previously gave the intelligence briefing to Congress that Russia is planning to interfere with the 2020 Elections to make sure Trump is reelected and at the same time sabotage Democratic Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
What may have increased his concern was that Schiff, who also serves as House Intelligence Committee Chairperson, was also present during the briefing, the same person who led the impeachment prosecution during the Senate trials. Trump was reportedly concerned about this intelligence briefing due to the fact that the Democrats may use this information to their advantage in the upcoming elections.
However, Schiff casually responded to the accusations on Twitter as well. Quote-tweeting Trump, he said, “Nice deflection, Mr. President. But your false claims fool no one. You welcomed Russian help in 2016, tried to coerce Ukraine’s help in 2019, and won’t protect our elections in 2020. Now you fired your intel chief for briefing Congress about it. You’ve betrayed America. Again.”
