Coronavirus cases have already been confirmed in the United States prompting the government to take precautionary measures to prevent its spread. However, President Donald Trump believes that the Democrats might have found another use for the virus – to damage him and his administration.
“The Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus,” President Donald Trump in a North Charleston, South Carolina rally, CNBC reported. The POTUS believes that his opponents might try to use the coronavirus situation in some way to damage his administration after the impeachment failed to oust him from the Oval Office.
“One of my people came up to me and said ‘Mr. President they tried to beat you on Russia, Russia, Russia. That didn’t work out too well’.” Trump said. “They couldn’t do it. They tried the impeachment hoax that was on a perfect conversation. This is their new hoax.”
However, Trump assured the public that his administration is prepared to contain the virus’ spread. “We are magnificently organized with the best professionals in the world,” the President added.
“We have to take it very, very seriously ... We are preparing for the worst,” Trump said. “My administration has taken the most aggressive action in modern history to prevent the spread of this illness in the United States. We are ready. We are ready. Totally ready.”
The government’s preparations include screening individuals coming into the country. “We will do everything in our power to keep the infection and those carrying the infection from entering our country. We have no choice,” President Trump said.
He also said that the novel coronavirus is a good example of why the open borders policy of his opponents is a threat to Americans. “Whether it’s the virus we’re talking about or any other public health threats, the Democrat policy of open borders is a direct threat to the health and wellbeing of all Americans,” Trump said.
There are now more than 83,000 confirmed novel coronavirus cases globally, according to the latest reports from the World Health Organization. More than 2,800 patients have already died due to the virus.
While the majority of the confirmed cases come from China, other countries have seen an increasing number of cases as well. For instance, Korea now has 2,337 cases, Italy has 650, Iran has 245 and Japan has 210 cases.
