Donald Trump recently faced backlash after he announced that he will be canceling his meeting in Las Vegas this month due to the Coronavirus.
The POTUS has reportedly been downplaying the ramifications of the deadly virus until one American patient was diagnosed with the illness. On Twitter, Trump was called a hoax because of how he has been treating a seriously dangerous issue not only in the United States but the whole world.
“BREAKING: Trump has called off a meeting with Asian leaders next month in Vegas because of coronavirus. I guess it's just a #hoax for Trump when American lives are at stake, but a serious threat when it's his own. The only real hoax is Trump and his deluded cult. #SaturdayThoughts,” Twitter user @HKrassenstein said.
“Trump calls Coronavirus a #hoax but canceled meetings with Asian leaders next month in Vegas. One thing is consistent with Trump – he spreads disinformation,” Twitter user @Out5p0ken said.
Political Flare also took offense with Trump’s stand when it comes to the Coronavirus. They said that he has been telling lies whilst putting people’s lives in danger but when it comes to his own life, he decides to go into hiding in the White House.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal also released a statement confirming the POTUS’s cancelation.
“As the international community works together to defeat the novel coronavirus, the United States, in consultation with ASEAN partners, has made the difficult decision to postpone the ASEAN leaders meeting previously scheduled for mid-March. The United States values our relationships with the nations of this critical region, and looks forward to future meetings,” said a senior administration official.
It is for certain that the Las Vegas meeting was canceled in part due to the fact that there will be Asian leaders there. But at the end of the day, the president is also expected to step up and take front and center stage for the nation.
