‘Don’t Breathe’ released a brand new clip featuring Stephen Lang’s vicious Blind Man in a thrilling scene between Money and Roxy. Meanwhile, director Fede Alvarez admitted his reasons on why he passed on the chance to helm a Marvel movie.
According to Bloody Disgusting, Sony Pictures Entertainment recently released a new clip featuring the utter viciousness of Lang’s antagonistic The Blind Man.
The clip opens to Daniel Zovatto’s Mony and Jane Levy’s Roxy finally getting to open a locked door after infiltrating the man’s house in attempts to rob him. The Blind Man soon appears and asks, “Who’s there?” after hearing the noise.
Money makes the mistake of saying, “Hey man, just chill ayt?” He goes on to bluff that he wasn’t sober and accidentally wandered in the property. He says, “So, I’m just gonna leave, okay?”
However, it seems that The Blind Man wasn’t having any of it and proceeds to go near him. When Lang’s character steps on a piece of the broken lock, Money and Roxy begin to get agitated after their intentions are found out. Money threatens, “Stay right there. Don’t you move.”
Money’s attempts to scare off the guy by firing a gun but the Blind Man continues to walk towards him while feigning fear and helplessness. However, the Blind Man moves with such calculated agility that he manages to catch Money in a chokehold. It was revealed that the man of the house, despite his handicap, wasn’t so helpless after all.
The upcoming horror-thriller film is directed and co-written by Fede Alvarez. The Uruguayan filmmaker is best known for his work on the science-fiction short film ‘Ataque de Pánico!’ as well as the ‘Evil Dead’ reboot released in 2013. He is also set to helm a live-action film based on the video game ‘Dante’s Inferno’ under Universal Pictures.
According to Comingsoon.net, the upcoming film follows three teenagers who get into the business of robbing houses in hopes of finally leaving Detroit. Soon, they set their sights on a property owned by a blind man who supposedly has a ton of wealth locked away in a basement. Thinking that this would be an easy gig, they break into the house in the middle of the night but soon find themselves trapped and in grave danger.
Meanwhile, Alvarez revealed that he was approached by Marvel Studios at some point to helm one of their film projects. According to Cinema Blend, he said he passed on the chance admitting that he valued his creative freedom.
He said, “A lot of those movies are cool and audiences are going and watching them. It's just as a director it's harder to have your vision in those, if you go and do a Marvel movie... At some point we were in conversations and... they already figured it out. They've figured out the style. They've figured out the way they shoot them. They've figured out the colors, the humor. What would I do? I enjoy a lot more freedom than that. I don't know. Eventually I might. And it depends on probably the characters in the stories. But just something about my job as a director that I really enjoy is creating my own thing. It's trying to do my own style when I shoot it and set the tone myself... Evil Dead was a challenge in that aspect.”
‘Don’t Breathe’ is an upcoming horror-thriller film scheduled to be released on August 26, 2016. It is produced by Ghost House Pictures, Good Universe, Screen Gems and Stage 6 Films. It is distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment worldwide and Screen Gems in the United States.
