Doosan Mobility Innovation (DMI) is collaborating with shipbuilding and marine ICT provider Marineworks to develop an electric marine chart system that allows ships to take preemptive safety measures against undetectable vessels.
The system will be based on the video footage by DMI's hydrogen fuel cell-powered drones, which are now capable of flying for over two hours.
DMI, a manufacturer of portable fuel cell power pack manufacturer for drones, was able to successfully extend the flight time of drones by incorporating hydrogen fuel cells that have high energy to weight ratio.
DMI's engineers used the DP30, a 2.6 kW miniaturized fuel cell power pack, which they developed by utilizing very thin metals with a proprietary technology for the bipolar plates in the fuel cell.
The company also has a tie-up with the Korea Electric Power Research Institute (KEPRI) to develop an overseas power cable-checking system with its s hydrogen drones.
DMI is a unit of Doosan Corp., the holding company of the cash-strapped Doosan Group.
