Dwyane Wade stands to make a lot of money this year as a Chinese team is reportedly trying to offer him a three-year $25 million contract to play in China, CBS Sports reported. The Miami Heat shooting guard still has some gas left in him and his experience in the NBA can be a great addition to this particular Chinese team.
To be precise, the Zhejiang Golden Bulls in the Chinese Basketball Association is the team that is trying to bring Dwyane Wade over. The 36-year-old veteran recently spent 10 days in China, visiting six cities as he signed a lifetime contract with sneaker and apparel company Li-Ning.
Dwyane Wade has been with the company since 2012, and this brand has a huge following in China. Rumors that the three-time NBA champion will continue his career overseas once he retires from the league is circulating, and this latest offer is creating major waves regarding this speculation. He told the Associated Press that he’ll be thinking about what his plans for the future are once he returns to the United States.
“Right now, I’m focused on the game after basketball,” Dwyane Wade told the Associated Press. “Whatever happens in basketball, it happens. I’ve done everything that I can to this point to put myself ... in this position I am today, where I can do something that hasn’t been done globally yet.“
Last season, Dwyane Wade started for the Cleveland Cavaliers and got traded mid-season to the Miami Heat. He averaged 17.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.4 steals on a 43.8 field goal percentage during his time with both teams as he came off the bench.
If Dwyane Wade decides to take the offer, he’d be the biggest NBA star to take his talents over to China. League players that took their talents to the country are Jimmer Fredette, Brandon Jennings, and Ex-Knicks star Stephon Marbury, with Fredette winning the CBA MVP in 2016.
