Since “Dying Light 2” was announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2018 last week, several gameplay details have been revealed, including the fact that its map is actually four times bigger than the first game.
“Dying Light” features a zombie apocalypse and open world environment and is played in first-person. Unlike other zombie-themed titles, “Dying Light’s” fighting mechanics mostly feature parkour movements while players have to craft weapons from certain junks they find.
After the announcement of “Dying Light 2,” developers from Techland reportedly held a closed-door event where they previewed a gameplay demo. According to Screen Rant, one of the exciting details about the upcoming game is the size of its map.
The report shared that the total size of “Dying Light 2” exceeds all the first game’s maps combined by four times and is set in a location in Europe described as "the last human settlement trying to survive." Meanwhile, the demo also confirmed that the upcoming sequel will bring back its signature parkour-based combat technique and movements.
For a more immersive in-game parkour experience, Techland designed all the object in the environment to follow the basic laws of physics. So, players will have to be wise and strategic in using the objects around them to their advantage when running away or fighting enemies with parkour moves.
While several improvements are expected to be applied in the gameplay, Screen Rant reported that some familiar parkour moves from the first game were also present in the “Dying Light 2” demo, such as sliding across a building wall.
The demo also showed that players will have to be extra strategic when moving from one place to another using parkour moves. Players’ stamina level will go down every time they parkour or hang from buildings. Screen Rant added that players have to think twice before jumping off of high places because, as the demo showed, there is a great chance that players will be unsuccessful.
“Dying Light 2” will be released on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Its launch date is yet to be announced.
