Ubisoft delivered on its promise that one of its main presentations at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2018 would be of “Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey.” The game developer confirmed that the game is set in ancient Greece and will introduce a new set of characters as well as an epic 150v150 mode.
Not too long ago, information about “Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey” was leaked. Ubisoft immediately responded with a very short teaser confirming that the game would be announced at E3 this week.
Several pieces of leaked information turned out to be true. Ubisoft has, indeed, chosen the glorious era of Greece as the setting for the upcoming game, describing the game’s locations as “idyllic shores, volcanic mountain ranges, crystal-clear lakes, and arid deserts.”
“Assassin's Creed: Odyssey” is somewhat an installment that introduces many “firsts” in terms of the franchise’s gameplay. Players did not have the option to choose a playable character up to the latest “Assassin’s Creed” release set in Egypt titled “Origins.” But that is going to change in “Odyssey” as players can now pick between Spartan warriors Alexios and Kassandra.
“Assassin's Creed: Odyssey” thrives on being an action-adventure game that combines real and fictional stories across all installments released. The same approach was obviously applied to “Assassin's Creed: Odyssey.”
Apart from the playable characters — whose identities are obviously fictional — Ubisoft has also added some familiar names to the list of characters involved in the game, such as the philosopher Socrates and the storyteller Barnabas.
In “Assassin's Creed: Odyssey,” players will also have the option to direct the story by choosing responses to in-game dialogues — another first for the franchise. The Verge highlighted in a report how even the characters' love story can be controlled by the players.
Meanwhile, the reign of Greece has been known for the nation's constantly getting into epic battles with rivals. So to complete the game’s Greek references, Ubisoft confirmed that players can go to a huge battle between Sparta and Athens with 150 soldiers on each side.
“Assassin's Creed: Odyssey” goes live on Oct. 5 on the Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
