Elon Musk praises US Space Force

The advances in technology, as well as scientific discoveries that were made, have brought scientists and governments to decide to protect the planet from forces outside Earth and from space. With the establishment of the United States Space Force, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk had nothing but praise.

Express reports that Musk was a guest at the Air Force Association Air Warfare Symposium. Addressing the US Space Force, a unit established by President Donald Trump to intercept Russian and Chinese developments in space technology in order to protect US interests. Space Force was established in the latter half of 2018, and Musk had nothing but praise for the unit. “I think it’s actually cool that the creation of Space Force is happening. It makes sense that there’s a major branch for every domain,” said the billionaire.

Musk went on to liken Space Force to the fictional Starfleet organization from Star Trek, saying, “We gotta make Starfleet happen. When the public hears ‘ Space Force’ that’s what they’ll think,” said the SpaceX CEO. Musk and SpaceX are already closely collaborating with the US military, with the Starlink satellites helping the Air Force access broadband services on its airplanes. The Starlink project aims to have 30,000 satellites orbiting the Earth in order to bring internet access all over the globe, and the Air Forces have already tested out the services while onboard a plane.

Aside from a partnership with the military, SpaceX previously announced that they are going to allow tourists to be able to pay to get a seat on the Crew Dragon Spacecraft, which is used for transporting astronauts to the International Space Station or ISS. Naturally, the trip will come with a hefty price tag, so only those who can afford to shell out perhaps millions of dollars will be able to get themselves a seat on the spacecraft.

The exact launch date with tourists has yet to be determined, but it will likely happen before 2021 ends and will last for five days. Because the spacecraft only measures nine square-meters in volume, the tourists who will be able to get a seat will find that there are no private areas to wash, sleep, or use the bathroom.
