The famed rhyme master Eminem is known for his beef with numerous institutions, groups, and individuals in the past. It would seem that the most recent target of the rapper’s ire is Netflix and it is due to the streaming service’s decision to cancel “The Punisher.” Clearly, Slim Shady is a fan of the action series and made his displeasure clear on social media. He might even rap about it.
As Comic Book reports, the partnership between Marvel and Netflix has officially ended with the announcement that “The Punisher” and “Jessica Jones” will not be returning. This is a huge blow to fans of those shows who are outraged at the lack of any explanation for the decision. It just so happens that one of these fans is Marshal Mathers who also goes by the name Eminem.
“DEAR @NETFLIX,” the rapper’s Tweet reads. “REGARDING YOUR CANCELLATION OF THE PUNISHER, YOU ARE BLOWING IT!!
“SINCERELY, MARSHALL.”
Since the Tweet was made with the letters all in upper case, it can be safely assumed that Eminem is not just mildly annoyed at this development. If he is angry enough to virtually shout at Netflix for its decision to end “The Punisher,” his next album could feature a shout out to the platform in a non-flattering manner. If so, this would certainly prove interesting.
Then again, Eminem might see “The Punisher” live on in some form in the future, with the possibility of the show being revived on Disney+ not being zero. As such, the rapper might not need to scribble several verses of curses directed at Netflix after all.
There is no guarantee of this happening, though, and it could very well be that all of the Marvel properties that Netflix scrapped will forever stay in the trash bin. This would be a shame and Eminem would definitely have good cause to fire off hot rhymes when that time comes.
