Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump’s husband and senior advisor to his father-in-law President Donald Trump, has been praised by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their visit to the South Asian country. India’s head of state praised Kushner for being low-profile as well as the positive impact of his actions.
“Jared stays out of the limelight but whatever he does, the outcome is very positive,” Modi said during Monday’s “Namaste Trump,” Newsweek reported. More than 110,000 attended the event which was held at a cricket stadium in Ahmedabad.
In the “Namaste Trump,” the Indian Prime Minister spoke after the U.S. President Donald Trump delivered his speech to the crowd. Trump took the stage to speak about America’s love for India as well as announcing the military alliance between the two countries.
“The first lady and I have just traveled 8,000 miles around the globe to deliver a message to every citizen across this nation: America loves India, America respects India, and America will always be faithful and loyal friends to the Indian people,” the U.S. president said the thousands of attendees. Donald Trump traveled to India with his wife, Melania Trump, his daughter Ivanka Trump and his son-in-law Jared Kushner.
“I believe that the United States should be India's premier defense partner and that's the way it's working out,” spoke about the U.S. and India’s military partnership. The state visit is also Donald Trump’s first official trip to the country.
The U.S. president also talked about the need for both countries to become partners in the fight against terrorism. “Both of our countries have been hurt by the pain and turmoil of terrorism,” Trump added. He also highlighted his government’s efforts to “crackdown on the terrorist organizations and militants that operate on the Pakistani border.”
Donald Trump also highlighted the similarities between India and the U.S. when it comes to both countries’ resolve to protect their citizens from terrorists. “The United States and India are also firmly united in our iron-clad resolve to defend our citizens from the threat of radical Islamic terrorism,” he said. “Both of our countries have been hurt by the pain and turmoil of terrorism and that terrorism brings.”
