‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ recently unveiled character posters with Colin Farrell’s featuring what seems to be a Deathly Hallows connection. It was speculated that the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald, who wanted to attain the Hallows for himself, would be making an appearance in the new series.
New character posters for the principal cast of director David Yates’ upcoming adventure-fantasy film were recently unveiled. One of them, featuring Colin Farrell’s director of magical security Percival Graves, also showed a Deathly Hallows pendant.
According to /Film, the official trailer suggested that the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald was roaming free to attain the Hallows for himself. It remains unclear whether the antagonist would be appearing in the upcoming film but speculations have begun to arise.
Albus Dumbledore battled Grindelwald before he fought against Voldemort, according to Metro. It was also teased that a young Dumbledore would be appearing in the film and it would make sense for Grindelwald to make his way on the big screen as well.
According to the Daily Mail, Yates hinted during a previous interview, “There is a mention of some characters that we know and love from previous movies, but we only talk about them fleetingly… In the next movie, part two, we'll get to meet one of them in a significant way. He's much younger than he used to be, but he'll be coming back.”
In J.K. Rowling’s original ‘Harry Potter’ novels, the Deathly Hallows are three powerful objects created by Death. The Hallows are composed of the Philosopher’s Stone, the Elder Wand, and the Cloak of Invisibility. Once used together, they would allow the master to become a Master of Death and cheat mortality.
The film stars Eddie Redmayne as the lead protagonist Newt Scamander, Colin Farrell as Percival Graves, Ezra Miller as Credence, Katherine Waterston as Porpentina Goldstein, Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski, Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein, and Samantha Morton as Mary Lou.
‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ is an upcoming adventure-fantasy film scheduled to be released on November 18, 2016 in the United States. It is considered a spin-off or a prequel of the original ‘Harry Potter’ cinematic series, which managed to earn a collective $7.73 billion at the worldwide box office. The film marks J.K. Rowling’s screenwriting debut.
