‘Fifty Shades Darker’ is set to feature Tyler Hoechlin of ‘Teen Wolf’ fame as Boyce Fox, Anastasia Steele’s co-worker. He admitted that he has not read any of the original books even after being cast in the sequel.
During an interview with the Daily Mail, Hoechlin revealed that he has not read any of E.L. James’ bestselling erotic trilogy despite joining Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan in the next installment of the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ cinematic series.
Hoechlin said, “I have not read the books”. He also talked about his experience filming James Foley’s upcoming film. He said, “It was fun to be a part of [filming]. It's interesting going from something like Teen Wolf where we had to build a fan base and then go into something like that where there's already such an existing fan base”.
The 28-year old actor is famous for playing the role of Martin Brewer on the family drama series ‘7th Heaven’. He also starred on MTV’s ‘Teen Wolf’ as Derek Hale from seasons 1 through 4. He also appeared on several full-feature films including Sam Mendes’ crime thriller ‘Road to Perdition’, David Myrick’s supernatural horror remake ‘Solstice’, as well as the Farelly Brothers’ comedy ‘Hall Pass’.
According to the Entertainment Weekly, Hoechlin’s character may have been mentioned in passing in E.L. James’ original books but his role will be expanded in the film adaptation. He is set to play Boyce Fox, Anastasia Steele’s co-worker. He is an author who signs with Christian Grey’s publishing company.
The upcoming sequel will introduce more characters into the film series. Joining Johnson and Dornan are Kim Basinger as Elena Lincoln a.k.a. Miss Robinson, Eric Johnson as Jack Hyde, and Bella Heathcote as Leila Williams. Returning cast members include Rita Ora, Marcia Gay Harden, Max Martini, and Luke Grimes.
‘Fifty Shades Freed’ is scheduled to premiere on February 13, 2017 in the United States. James Foley took over the role of director following Sam Taylor-Johnson’s departure from the franchise. Dana Brunetti, Michael De Luca, E.L. James, and Marcus Viscidi serve as producers.
It is the second film in the erotic drama trilogy of films based on the books authored by E.L. James. Its predecessor, ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’, was an immediate box office success despite receiving negative reviews. It grossed $571 million worldwide against a production budget of $40 million.
