In a rather bizarre turn of events, a recent job listing caused a stir among publications with regards to the kind of gameplay “Final Fantasy VII Remake” will feature. It would seem that many were not aware that the title would be an action game, which is odd. Right from when the first gameplay trailer was released, it was always clear that “Final Fantasy VII Remake” would not be turn-based.
Members of the video game community were treated to reports such as those from Siliconera recently, which talked about a new job listing for “Final Fantasy VII Remake.” It would seem that Square Enix is looking for a new VFX designer that will be working with the cascade particle editor of Unreal Engine 4.
What really caught the attention of publications, however, is the line that describes the job as “a position that will carry the core of Final Fantasy VII Remake that is being remade as an action game.” Anyone who has been paying to this game early on will already be aware of this particular aspect.
In a gameplay trailer that was shown as far back as 2015, it’s clear that “Final Fantasy VII Remake” will not be a turn-based JRPG. Actually, it will be more reminiscent of “Final Fantasy XV” in terms of the combat mechanics.
As Tweak Town points out, “Final Fantasy VII Remake” has always been an action game. The difference between the remake and the original classic title will be huge, and fans should certainly expect as much. This is not an HD remaster of the original game. It’s a new title with revamped graphics, art style, and pacing.
The publication also notes that the Luminous Engine might be used to power “Final Fantasy VII Remake,” which should prove exciting. After all, this is the same engine that gave Noctis and crew in "FFXV" their sparkly combat style.
