Ford Motor issued another recall and this time it is for the select 2021 F-Series Super Duty trucks. It was reported that more than 19,000 units of the said vehicle model are impacted by the latest recall notification.
The issue with the F-Series trucks
As per Fox Business, Ford Motor announced a recall for its F-Series Super Duty truck line due to an increased risk of a crash. The main problem is the vehicle’s loose wheel hub extenders that could lead to tire and wheel assembly detachment from the truck’s front axle.
It was added that the units to be recalled are the ones with dual rear wheels. Ford Motor warned that the affected vehicles may have been fitted with front-wheel hub extenders that the supplier was not able to tighten properly.
To be more exact, Ford Motor recalls 17,616 F-Series Super Duty trucks in the United States, 1,779 units in Canada and 231 in Mexico. Amid the recall, the American automaker stated that there are no reports of accidents or injuries yet that are related to the loose wheel hub extenders.
Owners’ notifications from Ford
In the Ford recall notice, it was stated that it will begin sending messages to owners of the select vehicles this week. They will receive instructions on how to get their vehicles fixed in authorized Ford service outlets.
“They (owners) will be instructed not to drive their vehicle,” the automaker said in the memo. “Until it can be verified that the front-wheel hub extender nuts are tightened to specification – by contacting their dealer to have the service completed at their location or towed to a dealership, or following provided instructions.”
For the F-Series Super Duty truck owners who want to get more information or verify if their units are affected by the recall, they can also head to Ford’s website and type in 21S26 as the reference number for this recall.
Meanwhile, Ford Motor recently unveiled the very first electric version of the F-Series pickup trucks. It was called the F-150 Lightning and expected to become popular just like the F-Series that have been one of the automaker’s best-selling models in the US for a long time now.
