CLEARWATER, Fla., Feb. 02, 2017 -- Katie was brought back to life four times from a drug overdose. But that did not stop her from using heroin. She was in a coma for 3 days but still she didn’t stop. Such is the power of addiction. Finally a friend took her to Narconon Florida where she was finally free from drugs. This was the story Katie told at the Florida headquarters for the Foundation for a Drug-Free World (FDFW) center in downtown Clearwater on February 1st. The center, which opened on July 15, 2015 is supported by the Church of Scientology Flag Service Organization. FDFW educates communities with its Truth About Drugs campaign and has already distributed almost 45,000 Truth About Drugs booklets throughout Florida in the new year.
Ms. Stephanie Klimke, Executive Director of FDFW Florida said, “Katie’s story is unfortunately not unique. With heroin abuse on the rise in Tampa Bay, Katie is lucky that she was able to find a program that truly brought her back to life.”
Emblazoned on the wall of the FDFW Florida headquarters is a quote from Mr. L. Ron Hubbard: “The single most destructive element in these societies today is drugs.”
