“Fortnite" Android is one of the most highly anticipated releases on the mobile platform in history. Many fans are eager to play the massive battle royale game on Android phones on the go. While the game’s release window has been set for this summer, there have been plenty of preparations for its release in the background. Epic Games has been investing heavily in Amazon Web Services (AWS), for example, to prepare for the influx of battle royale players.
As Express notes, “Fortnite” has become an established, major player in the mobile gaming scene. The app did earn $100 million in its first 90 days on iOS, after all, and it’s about to launch for Android. This makes the impending launch of “Fortnite" Android something that Epic is trying desperately to prepare for.
The summer release window of the mobile game is also likely due to how much of a technical nightmare it would be if the developers waited much longer. If “Fortnite" Android is launched at the same time as Season 6, for example, the chances of technical issues coming up increase. On the other hand, if it gets released before Season 5 ends, many of these problems can be avoided.
To help ensure that the launch of “Fortnite" Android goes as smoothly as possible, Epic has also started betting more on AWS, The Daily Star reports. The company will be investing more in the service to help stabilize its global servers and provide a more consistent connection to players.
This is important because “Fortnite" Android won’t just have battle royale as its main draw for much longer. As the publication notes, Epic is also planning on making its "Save the World" mode free-to-play. This could mean an even bigger deluge of players who have always wanted to try it out but didn’t want to spend the money required to play it.
