“Fortnite Battle Royale” has been absolutely dominating the gaming scene for a while now. Thanks to a recent report, there is a new figure to add to the title’s legend. Apparently, the iOS version of the game made over $100 million in its first 90 days, making it one of the most successful mobile game launches ever. Not everything about the game is perfect, however, with the developers recently disabling the shopping carts once again.
The revenue figure was reported by analytics firm Sensor Tower, which noted how the battle royale title beat out other mobile titans, including “Honor of Kings” and “Knives Out.” The report didn’t include the mobile version of “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” because it didn’t meet the 90-day and $100 million requirements just yet.
“So far, Epic Games seems to have found its winning revenue formula across console, PC, and mobile, and that’s selling limited-time (but non-random) cosmetic items in-game along with the aforementioned Battle Pass, which is good for one of the game’s “seasons” that grants holders free items and other bonuses,” the report reads.
On that note, not everything is going smoothly for the massively popular title. Epic recently had to disable the shopping carts yet again, as it announced via a tweet.
“Due to ongoing issues, we'll be disabling Shopping Carts again. We'll update you when this issue is resolved,” the tweet reads.
As Gamespot notes, the developers have already done this several times before in an effort to fix certain issues associated with the feature. It would appear that some players have actually managed to use it to glitch into restricted areas. This is a problem due to the competitive online nature of the title.
Epic is quite strict when it comes to stopping cheaters from upsetting the balance of the game. This explains its swift reaction to the problem.
