“Fortnite” developers are going to release the remedy for the absence of the Smoke Grenade from the battle royale-themed video game. On Sunday, "Fortnite" players noticed that Epic Games has listed an all-new weapon on the game’s "New Updates" feed called the Stink Bomb.
As first reported by Reddit user 1Kick234, Epic Games briefly described the Stink Bombs as a weapon that explodes and will damage the target slowly from the inside.
Epic Games left the details of the Stink Bomb's release under wraps. However, PC Gamer speculates that the new weapon could be arriving very soon. The same report suggested that since the Stink Bomb has already appeared on the official new updates list of the game, players could be looking at a release within the week. It is also very likely that the Stink Bomb will be added through an update that will also bring the fifth season of “Fortnite.”
Other than the Stink Bomb’s basic functions, nothing else has been confirmed by Epic Games for now. But in its preview, its appearance looks very close to the Smoke Grenade, which the developers moved to the vault in March.
Epic Games continues to observe the way gamers play “Fortnite,” including how they choose their weapons. In version 3.3, the developers confirmed that they were keeping Smoke Grenade in the vault and later explained that these weapons "are just not being used quite as much as we wanted them to."
At the time of the removal of smoke grenades, Epic Games promised that it will continue working on introducing new variants of explosives in the “Fortnite” arsenal. And the upcoming Stink Bomb could be the result of that work.
In related news, curious players might have also uncovered another upcoming weapon for “Fortnite.” According to reports, data miners from the group Two Epic Buddies uncovered some files that indicate a rocket launcher is coming to the game.
The mined files also reportedly suggested that the release date for the rocket launchers is Tuesday, June 19. This date has been making rounds in the “Fortnite” rumor mill after many Nintendo Switch players noticed that televisions in the game environment recently started a countdown timer that points to June 19, although there was no given clue as to what the announcement is actually about.
