“Fruits Basket” was one of the most popular and beloved manga to come out in the late 90s, featuring relatable characters and an amazingly charming female protagonist. The original anime ran in 2001 but the events presented were not entirely in step with those in the manga. The reboot will be following its illustrated counterpart more closely, much like how “Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood” did.
As Comic Book reports, the reboot is already scheduled to premiere this Spring as part of the trend of reviving classic anime. This should be good news for those who can’t get enough of supernatural shows that are sprinkled with teen romance, drama, tragedy, and intrigue. “Fruits Basket” should prove quite successful even with the current anime crowd because of how its timeless message still speaks to people.
In essence, “Fruits Basket” is about finding one’s place in the world following rejection, and allowing one’s true self to surface despite fear of being hated. Viewers will come to understand this soon enough after seeing the first episode, but the lesson becomes even clearer as the show goes on. New anime enthusiasts should not take this show’s light-hearted façade at face value.
In any case, the new “Fruits Basket” anime was created with the supervision of creator Natsuki Takaya herself. This should guarantee that the pacing and the presentation coincide with her manga as closely as it possibly can. Of course, there will always be some omissions and changes whenever anything is adapted, so manga readers might want to brace themselves for that.
The trailer released for the “Fruits Basket” reboot also highlights some major visual improvements compared to the first, with new anime technology doing a great job at creating hype. April cannot come fast enough for some fans, with the anime debuting to new eyes that are about to witness its greatness for the first time.
