“GTA 6” has yet to be announced as an official game in production by Rockstar Games but fan anticipation is so great that people are talking about the yet-to-exist sequel even before Rockstar has released its most recent project, “Red Dead Redemption 2.”
YouTube channel TheKnow has reported on what has been leaked as a potential “GTA 6” based on an inside source. According to the source, “GTA 6” is currently in production under the code name “Project Americas” and will be set in a Miami-like location. This would mean that Vice City might be revisited by the potential “Project Americas.”
In addition, players could potentially travel to a second location aside from Vice City. The second potential location is rumored to be located in South America, thus the code name for the project. Considering that the original “GTA: Vice City” was set in the '80s – mirroring the “Scarface” vibe of Miami as a drug haven during that time period – the potential “GTA 6” can potentially be set in the modern era, giving more space for the developers to create unique stories for the rumored upcoming sequel.
Since TheKnow's leak back in March, no other leak has corroborated the rumor of “Project Americas.” Fans of the studio that has brought “Red Dead Redemption” and “GTA 5” to the world may have to wait a bit longer for more concrete information on a potential “GTA 6” installment. In addition, the financial success that “GTA 5” and “GTA Online” have given Rockstar Games and Take Two Interactive may mean that the two previous games are too valuable in the franchise to be replaced by “GTA 6” anytime soon. Fans could potentially have to wait until 2020 for concrete news about “GTA 6.”
Fans may have more concrete evidence and news about “GTA 6” after Rockstar Games has pushed the already delayed but heavily anticipated “Red Dead Redemption 2” out the door on Oct. 26.
