More “GTA 6” rumors are expected to arrive in the coming months as the fifth entry celebrated its sixth-anniversary last week, Sept. 17. “GTA 6” is officially the longest entry in the franchise and there’s no telling when it will come out since Rockstar and Take-Two are still maintaining their silence.
Sure, there are a lot of claims saying that the game is actually in development and is, in fact, being made under codename “Project Americas.” But until such time that the developers themselves confirm anything about “GTA 6,” it’s best to take these rumors with a grain of salt.
This is especially true if the said rumor is showing off a lot of red flags. One of the things to look out for is when a “GTA 6” rumor is detailed to the bone.
GTA 6 rumor gets deleted
For instance, a Reddit post back in July went viral after it extensively listed features of the game that was too good to be true. Sure enough, the post and account were deleted shortly after several online gaming publications picked up the story, with reliable game journalist Jason Schreier labeling the “GTA 6” rumor as a fake.
Another example that can be cited was actually released this month where the leak provided images about the sixth installment. The photos showed off a man turning away from the camera, a car in a raining setting, and an airplane preparing for take-off. It’s easy to spot this one as another fake “GTA 6” leak since all three images were grainy and blurry, not to mention it’s clearly been taken from “GTA 5” or its online variant.
GTA 6 unlikely to make an appearance during E3
Lastly, the rumors claiming that “GTA 6” will make an appearance in next year’s E3 is likely fake as well. Rockstar is a studio that rarely shows up during the event, and even if the developers are in attendance, they don’t show much about their upcoming games, Kotaku reported.
So to wrap up, a “GTA 6” leak is likely a fabrication if it’s too detailed and looks like a fan’s wish list. If it provides blurry images that heavily features graphics of previous entries. And if it’s claiming that Rockstar will attend a conference that it usually opts out of.
What’s certain right now is that “GTA 6” is indeed in development. What’s unclear, however, is where the developers currently stand. Is the game in pre-production or in production stage? That’s anyone’s guess at the moment.
However, we’ll likely hear more about the game next year since next-gen consoles are expected to arrive at the time. There’s no denying that Rockstar is creating “GTA 6” as a next-gen title since that’s where the future of gaming is headed. As for its release date, the best we can hope for is a 2021 release date as predicted by game analyst Michael Pachter.
